Rear Subframe ModificationsIn 1998, when the 'new' VFR800 came out, I just had to have those tail lights. Hmmm. Tail lights required tail panels to match, and mounting trials quickly showed that the '800 subframe was the easy way to go as it also gave me '800 passenger pegs. The deal was done when I discovered that the '95 tank could be easily modified (ball-peen hammer) to fit with the '800 seat, giving me another 1/2 gallon of fuel capacity. The '800 subframe had similar sizing to the '92, but the lower subframe legs on the '92 were much shorter due to the 'wings' on the '92 frame that sweep back as part of the frame vents. Slight differences in width and height were solved with simple cutting, and the bottom line result is a stock piece with stock fittings. Many thanks to Brandon Monnig who went to great lengths to get me stock VFR subframe and peg measurements in various configurations. One advantage of this whole thing is that I was able lower the angle of the seat in anticipation of running greater rear ride height, so the chassis will be where I want it but the seat isn't in the sky.
