Tank Modifications

I wanted a tank from the '94-'97 series due to its larger 5.5 gallon capacity, and when I discovered that this tank was an easier fit to the VFR800 tail and seat, the choice was easy. I did need to change the rear mount, though. The tank sat too low, and a little too far rearward to properly line up with the seat.

Now, the stock rear mount is a thing of simplicity - just a steel tube welded onto a bracket. A rubber insulator fits into the tube, and a bolt passes through the rubber, isolating the tank from vibration. Easy - just weld in another tube where I want my new mount to be. I filed a semi-circular groove in the stock bracket, made up two additional gussets, and dropped in another steel tube of the same diameter.
